The Dead Wife by Sue Fortin @suefortin1 @rararesources #bookreview #thedeadwife

Happy Sunday everybody!

This is a book that completely intrigue me by its title alone, and I am happy to say I was not disappointed! A huge thank you to Rachel for my invitation to this tour!🖤

The Dead Wife

Police have ruled out suspicious circumstances in the investigation into the death of Elizabeth Sinclair, wife of charismatic entrepreneur Harry Sinclair, found drowned in the lake of the family’s holiday park.

It’s been two years since the Sinclair case closed but when reporter Steph Durham receives a tipoff that could give her the scoop of the year, she’s drawn deeper and deeper into the secretive Sinclair family.

Elizabeth’s death wasn’t a tragic accident. And the truth will come at a deadly price…

My Thoughts

Sue Fortin has crafted a chilling, creepy, and claustrophobic read. Elizabeth Sinclair wife of Harry Sinclair died two years ago at the family holiday resort. She drowned in the lake at the family resort and the death was ruled accidental. Sonya, Elizabeth’s mother is not convinced that her daughters death was an accident. So when she finds out Steph a travel reporter is heading to the holiday resort she asks her to look into her daughters death. This is when things get complicated! If you thought you had a dysfunctional family you have not met the Sinclair’s! I don’t even know where to begin, this was a family with so many secrets! So many lies! So much manipulation!

What a ride! The first chapter of this book completely grabs you and the story does not let go until that final twist. I spent this entire book trying to puzzle everything together. I kept guessing and then second-guessing myself. And still I did not figure it all out (as usual). Steph was a great character and the bulk of the story is told from her point of view. She kept getting sucked into this family’s Drama so worried that her own secrets would come out. There are also some flashbacks to Elizabith and the events leading up to her death. I have to admit I am not sure I necessarily liked Elizabith, but I did really want to find out the truth. The Sinclair brothers definitely added a creep factor to this book, never knew you could be charismatic and creepy all at the same time! This was a well told domestic thriller with some shocking twists and turns. And bonus there was even a little peppering of romance!
