Angel Svabodina is a rookie forensic anthropologist, enjoying the beginning of her new career. That joy comes crashing down when she figures out the skeleton she’s working on is not human and then it vanishes.

She throws herself fully into the case without thinking about the parties involved, a psychopomp associate, and paranormal mafia families made up of vampires and werewolves—or the consequences.

When she sees there’s no avoiding the inevitable, Angel has to suck it up and work with the werewolves to solve the case but can she trust them?

Werewolves and witches are in a centuries-old feud, but that doesn’t stop the shivers running down her spine from one wolf in particular. What’s more, nothing comes for free, including information. To get what she needs from the werewolf don, Angel has to meet with the fae queen. Can she meet her without repercussions and solve the case?

“A magical mystery in more than one sense of the word, this beautifully woven tale will charm you more than an ethereal fae.” – Liliyana Shadowlyn, The Faerie Review

When there’s more than secrets buried, where do you start digging?

When Brooke Adams is found battered, bleeding, and barely conscious, the police are at a loss as to who her attacker is or why she was targeted.

Then, PI Rod Morgan turns up convinced that Brooke’s attack is the latest in a string of unsolved disappearances dating back twenty-five years.

The police, however, aren’t convinced, so Brooke and Rod must investigate the cases themselves.

As secrets from the past start unravelling, will they find Brooke’s attacker before he strikes again, or is that one secret that will stay buried forever?

My Thoughts

4 Superb Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was a perfectly paste compulsive Red… an intriguing detective story with a refreshing twist… One of the best things about being a book blogger is you are exposed to so MANY books you wouldn’t otherwise Hear about…. I have had The pleasure to read and review so many wonderful books written by so many talented writers… sometimes makes me wonder why isn’t this book on a bestseller list? Just makes me realize there are SO many books out there that are as good or better than some of those books on those lists and this book is a good example of that!

Brooke is found clinging to life after being brutally assaulted…. PI Rod Morgan believes her attack is linked to a series of missing women spanning over 30 years… The police dismiss this theory so Brooke and Rod take it upon themselves to investigate…

Brooke is a sassy, strong, and determined young lady… things haven’t always been easy for her, but I admired her tenacity in this situation…. what I found so refreshing is the focus was more on Brooke and her investigation rather than that of the detective…. now this could go terribly wrong, but The author did a really good job with Brook’s character… Brooke was very thoughtful and intelligent when it came to investigating, she didn’t do anything stupid that you might expect when a civilian starts detecting…. no Scooby snacks, no mystery machine, no professor in a mask, you get the picture….

Rod took a bit of a backseat to Brooke in this book, but I did like his character as well… The only thing I would have liked a little more of is getting to understand the relationship between Brooke and Rod… and I’m not talking about a romantic relationship… this book was peppered with so much friendship and family giving a definite balance to the story…

A different kind of detective book filled with all the twists and turns you could want…. had no idea who done it!

*** many thanks to the author and Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for my copy of this book ***

–  I have always loved writing; putting words onto a page and bringing characters to life. I can almost feel myself becoming immersed into their lives, living with their fears and triumphs. Thus, my writing process becomes an endless series of questions. What would she or he do, how would they react, is this in keeping with their character? Strange as it sounds, I don’t like leaving characters in cliffhanging situations without giving them an ending, whichever way it develops.
My life to date is what compels me to seek a just outcome, the good will overcome and the bad will be punished. More though, I tend to see my characters as everyday people in extraordinary circumstances, but in which we may all find our selves if the planets align wrongly or for whatever reason you might consider.

Of course, most novels are autobiographical in some way. You must draw on your own experiences of life and from events you have experienced to get the inspiration. My life has been an endless adventure. Serving in the Navy, fighting in wars, serving as a Police officer and the experiences each one of those have brought have all drawn me to this point, but it was a downside to my police service that was the catalyst for my writing.

Medically retired after being seriously injured while protecting a woman in a domestic violence situation I then experienced the other side of life. Depression and rejection. Giving truth to the oft said saying that when one door closes another opens I pulled myself up and enrolled in college gaining bachelor and master degrees, for my own development rather than any professional need. The process of learning, of getting words down onto the page again relit my passion for writing in a way that I hadn’t felt since high school.

So here we are, two books published and another on track.

Where it will take me I have no idea but I am going to enjoy getting there and if my writing can bring some small pleasure into people’s lives along the way, then I consider that I will have succeeded in life.
