Becoming Charlie

Becoming Charlie by K.S. Haigwood

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Invisibility Stars

My name is Charlie, and I’m invisible. Well, not literally, but until one of the most popular guys at Eden High saved my life, nobody even knew I existed. Sean Reese gave me more than my life back that night. He gave me friendship.
And maybe, just maybe, I can save him, too.

Will he still be my friend after he knows my secret?

Charlie is a young girl, a young girl that is invisible, not in the magic sense, but in the fact that no-one knows who she is, she does her best to not be noticed, and beats herself up all the time about how she looks, sound familiar?

Ugh, school is just a horrid place to be when you are not one of the popular kids, how many of you have felt the stinging tongue of a nasty kid, usually the girls are worse!

After a silly mistake on her part by walking home alone, Charlie gets into a situation that she can’t use her “invisibilty cloak” to get out of, that is until Sean steps in!

Sean is on the football team, he is popular, and hot!

He decides that him and Charlie are going to be friends, best friends, but Charlie can not see why he wants to spend time with her.

I loved Sean, and the fact that he made Charlie feel special, and that he tried to make her see herself through his eyes.

Reading Between the Pages

My name is Tina and I welcome you to the new home for the
NetGalley & Edelweiss Reading Challenge!

Emily@Falling for YA created this challenge and passed the torch to Katrina@Bookish Things & More. Katrina has decided to step away from her book blog and pursue her passion for writing. I joined this challenge for the first time this year and have been enjoying it immensely. I was sad to see Katrina leave her love of blogging about books behind, but am quite excited for her to have more time to dedicate to writing. I wish her the best of luck!

Being that this challenge is now being hosted on a new site and the year is more than half over, I think this would be a great time to check in with all of you. I would love to hear from you in the comments below. How…

My Very Italian Holiday by Sue Roberts @SueRobertsautho @bookouture #BookReview #PubDay

Happy August all! Where did July go???

Thrilled to be part of the blog tour for this wonderful book! Many thanks to Kim for my invitation and to Sue Roberts for her delightful story!🐰🐰

My Thoughts

4 Shining Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was an absolutely delightful book full of fabulous characters… BUT after reading the blurb, looking at that Beautiful cover and judging by the title I thought this was going to be all about an Italian vacation…. so when at 50% we were still in England, I was slightly confused! That is not to say I wasn’t thoroughly enjoying this book, it was a wonderful story, just really not about a vacation… also was expecting a summer read, but they celebrate Christmas in this book… again not a bad thing and I really loved some of the parts that focused on Christmas… I guess what I’m trying to say is a huge 4 stars for the book and a measly 1 Star for the blurb… so I’d strongly encourage you to pick this book up without reading that blurb, do not want your expectations to be misled!

This really is a book about family, friends, second chances, moving on, and of course love…. Gina is slowly getting over the untimely death of her husband Adam…. she has also started a successful business in the Lake District…. Gina was a tremendously likable character, she had a great head on her shoulders and a enviable strength of mind and Spirit… but what I loved most was her tremendous bond with her sister Hannah…

There was also a romance in this book between Gina and Fabio… and this is what led Gina finally to head to Italy… I found the romance sweet, however it did move a little fast… but then again my own parents were engaged after two weeks and they have been married over 50 years, so who’s to say! Although I do think the quickness of their relationship lead to some miscommunication, but every book needs a little angst, right?

So even though this wasn’t the book I was expecting, it still was really good! I loved these characters… I loved the small town vibe in the Lake District… I loved Italy when we finally got there… I loved the sister bond between Gina and Hannah….

Absolutely recommend when you’re in the mood for a fun lighthearted read with some pretty darn fabulous characters…

About the Book

A beautiful guesthouse, a fresh start and a hunky Italian. Does it sound too good to be true?

Once upon a time, thirty-year-old Gina was on top of the world. Running a gorgeous hotel in the Lake District with her husband Adam was a dream come true. But then her world was turned upside down.

When Adam tragically passes away, Gina is left all alone. Her friends and her sister try to cheer Gina up with wine-fuelled karaoke nights and plenty of gossip – yet life has never quite been the same.

But when an Italian guest comes to stay at her B&B, change is in the air. Before long, Gina finds herself in Lake Como, thousands of miles away from her life – and her heartbreak. But it’s not all picturesque mountains, pizza and prosecco. The crumbling lakeside guesthouse that Fabio has inherited from his family needs some serious TLC. Is she up to the challenge?

As Gina and Fabio work in close quarters, sparks start to fly. But Fabio has a secret he is scared to share, and Gina has her past to come to terms with. Does her heart belong back home or is a life in the sun – with a very handsome Italian – just the change of scenery she needs?

Escape to the gorgeous mountains and glittering Lake Como in Northern Italy! This laugh-out-loud funny and feel-good story of starting over and living life to the max is perfect for fans of Kat French, Jenny Oliver and Carole Matthews.

About me by Sue Roberts:

I live in Lancashire with my long term partner Derek and have had a lifelong love of writing, encouraged by winning a school writing competition at the age of 11.

I always assumed that ‘one day’ I would write a book, always having a busy household and a job, the idea remained firmly on the back burner but never forgotten.

The inspiration for my first novel came to me on a holiday to a Greek village. My daughters had left home and suddenly the time had come to write that book!
