One morning, Connie McColl wakes up and decides to swap her ordinary life, for an extraordinary adventure…

Connie McColl is finally free to make her own decisions for the first time in decades. And when she meets glamorous Gill and downtrodden Maggie, at a rather dull flower arranging class, it seems that she’s not the only one dreaming of adventure. The three very different women all agree it’s about time they had a holiday to remember.

So they make a pact for this summer to be their best yet – and drive off into the sunset together…

As they meander their way along the beautiful beaches of France and onto the glorious delights of Italy in their luxury campervan, the new friends have plenty of fun and frolics in the sunshine. But the vacation isn’t quite what they expected…

Gill will do anything to have one last holiday romance, Connie has a surprise inheritance awaiting her in Italy, and Maggie has a secret that is going to catch up with them all…

In the end, all three women discover that the journey they thought would be their last really is just the beginning…

From the bestselling author of The Runaway Wife, The Getaway Girls is a laugh-out-loud, life-affirming journey of friendship, romance and living life to the full. If you loved The Kicking the Bucket List and The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry this book is for you.

5 Fabulously FUN Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

🎵 and we’ll have fun, fun, fun, till the grandkids take the RV away!🎵

This was such a delightful and fun book from first page to last! This is the follow-up to “ The Runaway Wife “ an equally delightful book, however it can absolutely 100% be read as a standalone…. and I strongly encourage you to pick both of these books up! Filled with so much fun and fabulous characters and the best part these characters are pushing 70…. whether you are 20 or 69 or older, it is just so nice reading a book about women in the later part of their life having the time of their lives! It is good to know the best is yet to come!

This time Connie has traded in Kermit the car for Bella the RV… now living in London teaching flower arranging classes… Connie is starting to get itchy feet… having recently learned of a long lost relative in Italy she decides to purchase an RV and head on a road trip, but this time not alone…. Maggie and Gil, two women taking her flower arranging classes needed to get away as well so they join Connie on this journey…. these ladies were acquaintances before the road trip and part of the fun of this book was watching the bond between them grow and grow and grow…. three very different women bonding over life experiences and learning you still have things to learn no matter your age….

There is also a bit of a dark side in this book…. Maggie left London with $100,000 and left behind an angry man! An angry man determined to catch up with her… can these three ladies have the road trip of their dreams even with that maroon Lexus chasing them? Well you my friends are going to need to read this book to find out! And truly how can you beat a book with fabulous characters visiting beautiful France and Italy? Allowing you to vacation vicariously through them…. loved all the sites, the beauty, the food, the vineyards, and most of all the people…

An absolutely perfect summer read that I would strongly recommend to all!💕

Meet Dee MacDonald

The Runaway Wife is Dee’s first (published) novel but in fact she wrote her very first book – at around seven years of age! This was a love story which she duly illustrated before sewing all the pages together up one side. Writing was what she ‘was good at’ in school and she won several essay competitions, but then life got in the way and she didn’t pick up a pen again until after retirement.

Dee left Scotland and headed for London at the beginning of the swinging sixties. After typing her way round the West End she became an air stewardess on long haul routes with BA (then BOAC) for eight years. After that she did market research at Heathrow for both the government statistics and for BA, she became a sales rep., and was the receptionist at the Thames Television Studios in Teddington when they had the franchise.

She then ran a small B&B for ten years in Cornwall, where she lives with her husband. Dee has one son and two grandsons who live locally.

Her second book, The Getaway Girls, will be published in August.

The Haunting of Hattie Hastings by Audrey Davis @audbyname @rararesources #BookReview

Happy Monday all!

Super excited to be part of the blog tour for the final installment of this bewitching serial! Many thanks to Rachel for my invitation and to Audrey Davis for her enchanting story🌻

The Haunting of Hattie Hastings Part 3

Nothing lasts forever … Gary’s time on earth seems to be coming to an end. His visits are less frequent and his visibility is fading fast. But he still has a mission to accomplish, which involves Hattie and her ability to pass on a heart-rending message.

Best friend Cat’s ex-husband is determined to prove that he deserves another chance, but do leopards really change their spots?

Times are tough for Hattie’s mother Rachel, but where there’s life, there’s hope …

Meanwhile, is there someone already in Hattie’s life who can help her move on when it’s finally time to say goodbye?

Get your tissues at the ready – both for laughter and tears – with the final instalment of a trilogy that has been hailed ‘brilliant’, ‘hilarious’, and ‘a great feel-good read’.

My Thoughts

4 Haunting Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the third book in this charming serial, and I was fortunate to get to read them all in a row! And the good news is you can too! Because they are all out now!!! I mean I love a cliffhanger and all, but I love it even more when I can pick up the next book immediately! This was such a bewitching book a romantic Comedy with a paranormal twist!

Hattie is such a wonderful and real character you just want nothing but the best for her… kind of tough to move on after your husband‘s death when he’s haunting you…. although Gary was a likable ghost (if that’s what you want to call him) and it was interesting finding out why he was still around… Kat Hattie’s BFF added some comic relief as well as some very frustrating moments, that girl! SMH! And Rachel Hattie’s mom was just plain fabulous! Loved all these characters and I am really quite sad to see it all come to an end…

This book really was the perfect conclusion… the cherry on top of my book sundae🍒 The book made me smile, it made me cry and laugh, but ultimately it left me feeling hopeful! And you can’t ask for much more than that!

A delightful read that is a little haunting a little quirky, and a whole lot of fun!

2017-04-13 19.43.40About Audrey Davis

Audrey Davis survived secondary school on the West coast of Scotland. Rubbish at science but not too bad at English, she originally wanted to be an actress but was persuaded that journalism was a safer option. Probably wise. She studied at Napier College in Edinburgh, the only place in Scotland at that time to offer a journalism course.

Her first foray into the hard-nosed newspaper world was as a junior reporter in Dumfriesshire. Duties included interviewing farmers about the prize-winning heifers to reporting on family tragedies. She persuaded her editor to let her launch an entertainment column which meant meeting the odd celebrity – or just the downright odd. From there, she moved to the loftier rank of senior reporter back in her home patch. Slightly more money, fewer farm animals but a higher crime rate. As Taggart would say: ‘There’s been a murrrrder!’

After a stint in London on a video magazine – yes, she is that old – Audrey moved to Singapore with her fiancé. She tried valiantly to embrace the stinking heat, humidity and lack of jobs, although she did work briefly on a magazine which was banned by the government for ‘artistic’ use of naked men’s bottoms.

Next on her adventures was a land Down Under where her main focus was raising Cost Centre One (aka firstborn) and coming to terms with the imminent arrival of Number Two. Still, she loved the Aussie way of life – BBQs, beaches and bring your own booze to restaurants – so it came as a blow when OH announced a move back to the UK. Not a job between them, the climate a possible deal breaker and an Exorcist-style vomiting infant on the flight home didn’t bode well …

Always a survivor, Audrey sought out similar-minded friends (i.e. slightly bonkers), got the children into a good school and thought about taking up writing again. Sadly, thinking about it was as far as she got, unless you count shopping lists. Then, hubby drops another bombshell. Switzerland. As in – it’s packing time again. Off to the land of cheese, chocolate, scarily efficient trains and a couple of teeny, tiny issues. Like driving on the ‘wrong’ side of the road and speaking a foreign language (French). The former was conquered fairly quickly (we’ll skip over the wall demolition in week two), the latter remains an ongoing battle of the hopeful against the hopeless. At least she provides amusement for the local workforce.

It wasn’t until 2016 that Audrey rediscovered her writing mojo with an online Writing Fiction course. From there, her first novel – A Clean Sweep – was born, although it took a bit longer than nine months from conception. A short, darker prequel – A Clean Break – followed, and in November 2017 she published the first in a novella trilogy, The Haunting of Hattie Hastings Part One. Part Two is published on 21 March 2018, with the conclusion following in July. After which she might have a wee lie down …

Murder By The Broads by Anthony Tamiozzo @Tamiozzo3 @Bloodhoundbook #BookReviewz

Happy Monday everyone!

And happy Publication Day to this first book in a fabulous new police procedural series! Many thanks to Sarah for my invitation to this blog tour and to Anthony for his wonderful book!🙂

Murder by the Broads FINAL Avenir Next and Allegra stencil

Meet DS Adam Burnt, a troubled man who has his work cut out. While at a crime scene he is informed of another murder. But Burnt is also having problems at home. He suspects his wife is having an affair.

As the clues unfold DS Burnt begins a game of cat and mouse.

What links the two murders to a doctor and a psychiatric hospital?

Trying to juggle his personal life and the job, Burnt must navigate Great Yarmouth and the surrounding areas to catch a killer and stop a vicious gang.

My Thoughts

This is the first book in the DI Adam burnt police procedural series… it is also this author’s debut, so a big congratulations on your first published book! More than I will ever be able to say, that is for sure!

So Adam has moved his family to a different location in the UK, mainly to improve his marriage… The problem is Adam is married to his work, he also does not trust his wife… at all! However, this book focuses much more on the case rather than Adam’s home life… two teenage boys are murdered and their bodies are found close together… how are these murders related and why would anybody kill these young boys? When another body is discovered the case really gets heated up with much pressure to solve… Adam is a committed detective however his lack of familiarity with the area does hurt him….

This is a book you need to pay close attention to as it jumps around quite a bit… admittedly there were times where I was a bit confused and had to go back and reread… i’m thinking because this was the author’s debut he probably had a lot going on in his head that he wanted to put to paper…. but sometimes less is a little bit better… definitely a complex plot that kept me on my toes! I also thought Adam Burnt was a interesting character and I am super curious to see what this character does next… there is quite a bit of potential for some tremendous character growth with him!

Recommend two fans of the police procedural, a good start to what looks like a wonderful series!

4.5 Scrumptious Stars🌟 The Little Cornish Kitchen by Jane Linfoot @janelinfoot @rararesources #BookReview #Giveaway

Happy Sunday book lovers!

Delighted to share with you my review for this wonderful book! Many thanks to Rachel for my invitation to the blog tour and to Jane Linfoot for her charming story😍

The Little Cornish Kitchen

It’s time to come home to Cornwall

With an exciting new life in Paris, Clemmie Hamilton isn’t looking forward to heading home to the picturesque but sleepy village of St Aidan, Cornwall. However, when she discovers that the cosy apartment by the sea, which her grandmother left to her, is under threat from neighbour and property developer, Charlie Hobson, Clemmie realises she can’t abandon her home in its time of need.

With her childhood friends encouraging her, Clemmie decides to turn the apartment into ‘The Little Cornish Kitchen’ – a boutique pop up pudding club raising money for the repairs to the building in an effort to stop Charlie once and for all. But when Charlie and his easy charm won’t seem to go away, everything soon becomes even messier than the state of Clemmie’s Cornish kitchen…

My Thoughts

4.5 Scrumptious Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

Clemmie is being added to my ever-growing book BFF list! Loved her and her group of friends… you know the friendship is real when you are willing to dress up like a mermaid not just once but twice for your friends…. Tail and all! I’d love to go to the Little Cornish Kitchen and have a macaroon or two with these girls!

Clemmie has wanderlust never staying anywhere for too long… so when she returns home to check out the flat she is inherited from her grandmother, it is only temporary… even though she is enchanted by her grandmother’s eclectic beach front flat filled with memories, she insists this is still temporary… when she learns the repair costs of the flat she is determined to hold onto it… she especially does not want to sell it to her pushy neighbor Charlie… so she cooks something up to earn some money, still insisting this is temporary…

Clemmie and friends open a Singles/putting pop-up… with Clemmie making lots of yummy goodies from her grandmothers basket of recipes…. with several mishaps in the kitchen and frequent visits from her neighbor Charlie and his furry friends, this book kept me laughing and hungry! Loved the slow burning romance between clammy and Charlie…. and Charlie was quite brilliant he befriended all of her friends as well! The best way to a girls heart is through her friends, right?

Such a delightful book filled with fun, friendship, family, and yummy food! And I didn’t even mention the bit about Clemmie‘s long-lost father and brothers… Jane Linfoot I would be more than happy to visit the Little Cornish Kitchen in a future book, hint, hint!

An absolutely perfect summer read that will make your heart beat faster and your stomach rumble…

DSCN3473_2Author Bio – Jane Linfoot is a best selling author, who lives in a muddy cottage, up a steep hill in Derbyshire, with her family, their pets, and an astonishing number of spiders. Although she loves seeing cow noses over the garden wall, she’s happy she can walk to a supermarket.

Jane grew up in North Yorkshire where she spent a lot of her childhood avoiding horizontal gales blowing off the sea, and wrote her first book by accident, while working as an architect, and renovating country houses. While she loves to write feelgood books that let readers escape, she’s always surprised to hear her stories make people laugh, admits to (occasionally) crying as she writes, and credits her characters for creating their own story lines.

Her latest books include a series of stand alone novels, based around a seaside wedding shop in Cornwall. Cupcakes and Confetti – The Little Wedding Shop by the Sea, Sequins and Snowflakes – Christmas at the Little Wedding Shop, and Bunting and Bouquets – Summer at the Little Wedding Shop, and most recently, The Little Cornish Kitchen. Oh Crumbs by Kathryn Freeman @KathrynFreeman1 @rararesources #BookReview #Giveaway

Hope you are having a fantastic weekend!

Thrilled to share with you my review for this lovely book! Many thanks to Rachel for my invitation to the blog tour and to Kathryn Freeman for her delightful story😍

Oh Crumbs

Sometimes life just takes the biscuit …
Abby Spencer knows she can come across as an airhead – she talks too much and is a bit of a klutz – but there’s more to her than that. Though she sacrificed her career to help raise her sisters, a job interview at biscuit company Crumbs could finally be her chance to shine. That’s until she hurries in late wearing a shirt covered in rusk crumbs, courtesy of her baby nephew, and trips over her handbag.

Managing director Douglas Faulkner isn’t sure what to make of Abby Spencer with her Bambi eyes, tousled hair and ability to say more in the half-hour interview than he manages in a day. All he knows is she’s a breath of fresh air and could bring a new lease of life to the stale corporate world of Crumbs. To his life too, if he’d let her.

But Doug’s harbouring a secret. He’s not the man she thinks he is.

My Thoughts

4 “Oh Crumbs!!!” Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was such an enchanting love story so full of heart and family! Because if you fall in love with Abby you not only get her but her dad, her four sisters, and of course her dog Pat… this book would make such a heartwarming movie and I could just see actresses fighting over the part of Abby… she would be a lot of fun to play!

Abby has put her dreams on hold to take care of her family after her mother’s death… abby is the oldest of five spirited girls, so she absolutely has her hands full…. her sisters certainly added some laughs and touching moments to this book… her father was a kind loving man who really wanted the best for Abby, but was quite overwhelmed with all these girls!

Abby gets a job at a biscuit/cookie company and that’s where she meets Douglas…. Douglas is her boss and his family owns the company… I loved that Douglas adored Abby even though she spoke before she thought… something Abby and I have in common! He also saw her for the smart, caring, and quirky girl she was…. The relationship between them was sweet and I loved the mutual respect they had for one another… although I must admit Douglas and his insecurities drove me crazy! Good thing he had a good friend to talk some sense into him! The final outcome in this book was perfect! Although I was thinking “Oh crumbs!!!” when it was over, because I wanted more!

Absolutely recommend this delightful romance that will leave you with a smile on your face and hope in your heart💕

Saving Beck by Courtney Cole @InkSlingerPR @Court_Writes #BookReview #Excerpt

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Excited to share with you today my review for this gripping real and raw story that I strongly encourage you to pick up!💞

Reminiscent of the beloved novels by Mary Kubica and Jodi Picoult comes a chilling portrayal of a son’s addiction and its harrowing effects on both him and his mother from New York Times bestselling author Courtney Cole. SAVING BECK is now available! Check out the tour below, and pick up your copy of SAVING BECK today!

There comes a time when offering your life for your child’s doesn’t work, when you realize that it’ll never be enough.

The cold needle in his warm vein was a welcome comfort to my son at first. But then it became the monster that kept us apart.

Heroin lied, and my son believed. It took him to a world where the last year didn’t happen, to a place where his father was still alive. What Beck didn’t understand was that it couldn’t bring his father back from the dead. It couldn’t take away his pain, not permanently.

You think it can’t happen to you, that your kids, your family, will never be in this situation.
I thought that too. But you’re wrong.

Step into our world, and see for yourself.
Watch my golden boy become a slave to this raging epidemic. Watch me try and save him.

Drug addiction comes with a price.
Trust me, you’re not equipped to pay it.

Don’t miss this heart wrenching, evocative, yet hopeful novel—it will leave you forever changed.

My Thoughts

5 Heartbreaking Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book takes a real and raw look at addiction and its impact not only on the addict but the addict’s entire family… Courtney Cole takes you on such an emotional journey with this book… and the fact that she has gone through this with her own son adds so much authenticity to the story…. as a mother I could not help but put myself in Natalie’s (the mother in this book) shoes… I cannot even imagine how helpless you would feel watching your child struggle with any type of addiction much less heroin… addiction has already had an impact on myself and my kids, their father is an addict (not a heroin addict) something that has both hurt them and made them stronger…. but there is a genetic component to addiction and that made this book all the more real and heartbreaking for me….

The book starts with Beck overdosing right in front of his mother Natalie…. Beck goes to the hospital and is placed in a medically induced coma… The story is told from both Beck and Natalie‘s perspectives…. I thought this was very effective, because we got both sides of the story leading up to the overdose… Beck was a stereotypical all-American boy… a good student, an athlete, has a lovely girlfriend, and a loving family… not what you picture when you think addict, but I’m sure as we all know addiction does not discriminate… after the family goes through a major tragedy and Natalie falls apart Beck is left to pick up the pieces… and really your heart breaks for him as he slowly makes the dissent into drug addiction….

This book really is about much more than just addiction… it is about forgiveness, acceptance, love, and hope… it really makes you think and ask the hard questions, and face the realization that there are some things that are simply out of your control as a parent…. there were times in this book I really found it hard not to judge Natalie for her actions, but I had to remind myself I have never been through what she has… a broken family trying to put themselves together again after tragedy… A family that could be any family, it could be my family… it could be your family… that’s what made this book so powerful and so real!

This is just a well done book about a very big problem we have in our country… it is not a light fluffy beach read, but an important book that I strongly encourage you to pick up! An emotional heartbreaking journey that will leave you feeling hopeful…

The nurse grasps my arm, and I can’t stand anymore. My legs are tired and the adrenaline… it numbs me. I collapse beside her and she tries to hold me up, but she can’t… I’m on the ground.

My face is wet, when did I start crying?

“You have to save my son,” I beg her, my fingers curled into her arm. I stare into her eyes. Hers are green, ringed with blue, and she looks away. Something about her seems so familiar, something about those eyes.

“We’ll try, ma’am,” she says uncertainly. It’s the uncertainty that kills me. “We’ll do everything we can. I’m going to take you to a quiet room, and give you a blanket. Is there anyone I can call for you?”

I shake my head. “No. I already called my sister.”

“Okay,” the nurse says quietly and her name tag says Jessica. She takes me to a waiting room, a quiet private one, the ones they use when the outcome might not be good. I know that because I’ve been here before.

I swallow hard and she puts a cup of coffee in my hand.

As she does, she pushes a stray hair out of her face and her bracelet catches my eye. A simple chain with a silver dolphin on it. I’ve seen it before.

“You were here the night my husband was brought in,” I realize slowly. “Weren’t you? Do you remember me?”

It was a year ago. A year, two months… I check my watch… six days and twenty-two hours ago. Of course she doesn’t remember me.

But Jessica nods.

“I’m so sorry about your husband,” she tells me now, her voice quiet and thick. “I swear to you, we did everything we could.”

“I know,” I tell her. Because I do. The accident was so bad, there’s no way anyone could’ve survived. Except for Beck. He lived. But Matt...his injuries were insurmountable. That’s what the doctor told me that night.

Madam Love, Actually by Rich Amooi @RichAmooi @rararesources #BookReview #Giveaway

Happy Saturday!

Thrilled to be part of the blog tour for this laugh out loud romcom! Many thanks to Rachel for the invitation and to Rich Amooi for his enchanting story🌻

Madam Love ActuallyMadam Love, Actually

Lance Parker is an arrogant know-it-all. As author of the bestselling book Your Soulmate Doesn’t Exist, he says love is for losers. Madam Love is a fortune teller and matchmaker who has brought hundreds of couples together.

When the two clash during a radio interview, she admits even someone as irritating and impossible as Lance has a soulmate. He says she’s delirious and a fraud. Then the gauntlet is laid down: Madam Love has two weeks to prove Lance wrong and find him a soulmate.

When Lance meets wonderful Emma by chance, he doesn’t know what to think anymore. But Emma has a secret. She’s Madam Love, actually. And it’s going to take a whole lot more than a crystal ball to get her out of this mess.

My Thoughts

4 Playful Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was such a FUN book that kept me smiling from first page to last! The fact that this delightful romcom was written by a man is remarkable! I am super impressed a man truly understood what women want! Well done Rich Amooi!

Do you believe in soulmates? Madam Love does… or are you more of a realist? Best selling author Lance is… so after a spirited discussion on a local radio station a challenge is thrown down… Madam Love is convinced Lance will find a soulmate… Lance is convinced he won’t, but then he meets Emma and he is confused… and what’s even more confusing Emma is Madam Love….. actually!

Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes… I love all that sasssy banter and we definitely got that in this book! We also got so many hilarious moments mixed with some very sweet moments as well…Emma and Lance are really likable characters, so multi dimensional… I loved every part of this book with the two of them together, no matter who they were at that moment…

So who wins the challenge? And does Lance learn to believe in soulmates? Will Emma hang up her matchmaking Crystal ball? You will need to read this book to find out! And I strongly encourage you to do so!

Perfect summer read! This book is filled with so much laughter and love… but warning if you read this in public don’t be surprised if you get strange looks because you’re laughing so hard😂

My Thoughts

4 Cracking Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the second book in the Zac Boateng police procedural series, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone… I did not read the first book and I was not lost at any time… I’m sure I missed some character background, but it was not necessary to the story…

Sometimes I struggle with police procedurals, there is too much procedural and not enough character development… I thought this book had a really good balance of both… and bonus Zac is a healthy well-adjusted character without an addiction…. additionally he is married with children…. The one thing that does haunt him though is the murder of his daughter, and I would think anybody would be haunted by this police or not…

Zac’s longtime friend Troy is murdered… I always get excited when a character has the same name as one of my children, however not so much when he is the murder victim! The murder is made to look like a suicide, but Zac is not convinced and believes he might be next… what happened in 1998? And why are people being killed 20 years later? Well you will need to read this book to find that out!

This book was perfectly paste and well plotted with the perfect amount of twists to keep you guessing… and of course as in 94% of the books I read I did not see that ending coming, I really would be the world‘s worst detective ever!

Recommend to fans of the police procedural with a strong well developed male detective…

Who is Janie Juke?

Janie Juke is a young librarian, living in the fictional Sussex seaside town of Tamarisk Bay in the late 1960s.

The great thing about being a librarian is not just that you get to read all the books you could ever want, but also that you are at the heart of the community.  With people forever popping in and out of the library van, Janie is in the very best place to excel at her other little sideline, as an amateur sleuth.

Since she was a young teenager Janie has had a passion for Agatha Christie novels.  As a result, she is a devoted fan of Hercule Poirot. Now she is having a chance to put all she has learned from him to the test.

In the first book in the Sussex Crime mystery series, The Tapestry Bag, Janie’s good friend Zara goes missing.  When the police appear to be doing little to find Zara, Janie makes it her mission to track her down.  Zara’s boyfriend, Joel, has been killed in a hit and run accident and Zara goes missing on the one-year anniversary of his death.  As Janie explores the strange circumstances of Zara’s disappearance, she starts to question the truth about Joel’s death. She turns to Agatha Christie’s crime novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, to help her untangle the web of lies and deceit.

Having shown her skills at investigating, Janie takes on her first case for a client in the second book in the series, Lost Property.  Hugh Furness is prepared to pay Janie a handsome amount of money to help him find an old friend, who he hasn’t seen for more than twenty years.  This time Janie enlists the help of her friend and local journalist, Libby Frobisher and between they track down clues and piece together the facts.  Hugh Furness was an RAF pilot in the Second World War and Janie soon discovers that it is the past that holds the key to the present.

Janie’s father, Philip, offers her solid support, acting as a brilliant sounding board as she works through her theories and conjectures.  When Janie was just five years old her father, Philip, took her to the park one snowy day. He crossed the road to buy her a doughnut and got knocked over by a bus.  Sadly, as a result, Philip is now blind. But he hasn’t let that stop him from leading a full and busy life. He has trained as a physiotherapist and has a long list of clients keen to visit him, grateful for his gentle nature and wise words.

In the latest book in the series, The Invisible Case, Janie is getting used to being a mum, with her baby just two months old.  In this story we meet Philip’s sister, Jessica who has been travelling around Europe for the last nine years and now is returning from Italy, with a friend in tow.  Mysteries surround Luigi, a moody newcomer to Tamarisk Bay, and within days of his arrival there is a shocking death.

Janie’s new role as a first-time mum doesn’t deter her from seeking out the truth and in true Hercule Poirot fashion she is determined to chase down every clue.  When you are investigating crime, the police are bound to be keeping a watchful eye on your every move. Janie first met Detective Sergeant Bright in The Tapestry Bag, and dealt with him again in Lost Property, but in The Invisible Case, they have a few verbal sparring sessions.  Frank Bright can’t decide whether Janie is a useful ally, or an annoying splinter that he just can’t extricate.

I’m looking forward to finding out what happens next to Janie…if you want to keep tabs on her, then visit my website at: www.isabellamuir or follow me on Twitter @SussexMysteries or visit my Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/IsabellaMuirAuthor/

Keep Quiet by Lisa Scottoline @LisaScottoline – #FlashbackFriday

Keep Quiet

Keep Quiet by Lisa Scottoline

⭐⭐⭐⭐·5 Twisty Stars

Jake Buckmans relationship with his sixteen-year-old son Ryan is not an easy one, so at the urging of his loving wife, Pam, Jake goes alone to pick up Ryan at their suburban movie theater. On the way home, Ryan asks to drive on a deserted road, and Jake sees it as a chance to make a connection. However, what starts as a father-son bonding opportunity instantly turns into a nightmare. Tragedy strikes, and with Ryan’s entire future hanging in the balance, Jake is forced to make a split-second decision that plunges them both into a world of guilt and lies. Without ever meaning to, Jake and Ryan find themselves living under the crushing weight of their secret, which threatens to tear their family to shreds and ruin them all.

Powerful and dramatic, Keep Quiet will have readers and book clubs debating what it means to be a parent and how far you can, and should, go to protect those you love.

This book makes you think really carefully about what you would do and how far you would go to protect your family.

Jake has a good life, he has a brilliant job that he started from nothing, to the thriving business it is today, he has a beautiful wife Pam who he loves very much, and a teenage son Ryan who he doesn’t know very well at all.

Jakes relationship with Ryan is fading, he is always at work and doesn’t have any time for him, and he wants to put it right.

After a discussion about it with his wife it is decided that he will collect Ryan from the cinema that evening instead of Pam.

He turns up on time and collects Ryan as agreed, they are driving home with the usual uncomfortable silences they start to bond and actually start to chat like father and son.

When Ryan asks to drive his dads car, Jake obviously refuses as Ryan doesn’t have his drivers permit yet although he will have it in 1 month, and it was also after 11pm.

Because they are getting on so well Jake decides that it won’t hurt and pulls over on a long deserted road and lets Ryan drive.
All is well and Ryan is a good driver, they are chatting away and turn a bend and ……………

Jakes life is turned upside down ……..

This book is great, it has twists turns and then when you think you have it BAM another one pops up.

Get ready to have your mind twisted!
