Part-Time Lover by Lauren Blakely

⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 Mermaid Stars

I’ll say this about Christian — he made one hell of a first impression.
When I first saw the strapping man, he was doing handstands naked on a dock along the canal. His crown jewels were far more entertaining than anything else I’d seen on the boat tour, so I did what any curious woman would do — I took his photo. I might have looked at the shot a few dozen times. Little did I know I’d meet him again, a year later, at a secret garden bar in the heart of the city, where I’d learn that his mind and his mouth were even more captivating. But given the way my heart had been trampled, I wanted only a simple deal — No strings. No expectations.
Our arrangement worked well enough until the day I needed a lot more from him…

Let me just say, this whole part-time lover thing was her idea. I’d have gone all-in from the start, but hey, when a gorgeous, brilliant woman invites you into her bed, and only her bed…well, I said yes.
But then, one hysterical phone call from my brother later, begging me to find myself a wife so grandfather’s business stays in the family, and I need a promotion with Elise. Turns out a full-time husband suits her needs too, and a temporary marriage of convenience ought to do the trick, until we can simply untie the knot…

As long as no one finds out…
As long as no one gets hurt…
As long as no one falls in love…

But our ending was one I never saw coming.

You may remember meeting (or seeing) Christian in ALL his glory, doing naked handstands if you read Wanderlust, in fact, you have already met Elise (She was Joy’s friend) however you do not need to have read it to be able to enjoy this one.

Lauren Blakely is the epitome of a Rom Com queen, she writes funny, sweet and sexy so brilliantly, there is always a little angst but nothing to make you roll your eyes at, and there is always…ALWAYS a great story to take you away.

This was no exception…

Elise and Christian nearly have a meet cute when she visits a friend in Copenhagen, but that falls through, even though she does manage to get herself some tasty handstand snaps to ogle at.

They eventually meet in Paris a year later and by a weird series of coincidences, they embark on a crazy deal to help out Christian’s younger brother.

The fact that this was a second chance romance is also why i loved it so much, Lauren’s characters are always a little older and wiser, so you don’t seem to get the college angst kind of vibes from them.

🎧🎧With the usual funny banter and brilliant one-liners this falls into another “Must Listen” audio book

Grace Grant and Shane east were perfect voices for these characters, they gelled together brilliantly and some of the sexy accents made me sit listening with a goofy smile on my face.

Save a credit for this one guys, you won’t be disappointed!

One Summer Weekend by Juliet Archer @julietarcher @rararesources #BookReview #BlogTour

Love these summertime reads! Today I am thrilled to be part of the blog tour for this lovely love story… many thanks to Rachel for my invitation and Juliet archer for this beautiful story💕😍

One Summer WeekendOne Summer Weekend

One summer weekend can change everything …

Alicia Marlowe’s life as an executive coach is well under control – until she meets her new client, Jack Smith. Jack’s reputation precedes him and Alicia knows immediately that he spells trouble. Not least because he reminds her of someone else – a man who broke her heart and made her resolve never to lower her guard again.

Taking Jack on as a client is a risk, but one that Alicia decides to take for the good of her career. As long as she keeps him in his place, she might just make it through unscathed. But Jack has other ideas – including a ‘business’ trip to the Lake District. One summer weekend with him is all it takes to put Alicia’s carefully organised world in a spin …

My Thoughts

4 Summertime Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I’m such a sucker for a book with a summery cover/title… wherever the lake district is located it sounds quite beautiful, need to add it to my list of many places I want to visit when I’m in the UK…. this was a sweet short story that put a smile on my face….

Alicia and Jack Meat when Alicia becomes his executive coach… Alicia wants to maintain a professional relationship, but Jack is persistent…. after a weekend in the lake district love blooms… but then Alicia’s ex shows up and things go a little sideways… will Alicia and Jack get their HEA?

This was a short book and because of the length I didn’t get as much character development as I would have liked… wouldn’t mind getting a follow up, I would love to get to know Jack and Chloe better along with some of the secondary characters in this novella…

Recommend to fans of summertime and love💕

Nobody’s Child by Victoria Jenkins @vicwritescrime @bookouture #BookReview #BlogTour

Happy Saturday all! Thrilled to be part of the blog tour for the third book in this wonderful crime series… many thanks to Noelle for my invitation and to Victoria Jenkins for this intriguing story🕵🏻‍♀️🕵🏻‍♀️

Nobody’s Child by Victoria Jenkins is an unputdownable crime thriller that will have you hooked (Detectives King and Lane Book 3)

An absolutely gripping mystery thriller with a jaw-dropping twist. This book will hook you from page one and keep you reading ‘just one more chapter’ late into the night.

On a damp October day, a body is found in an abandoned hospital, too burnt to be identified, but Detective Alex King knows that every victim is someone’s daughter or son.

Pushing aside her own troubles, Alex puts everything into finding the killer, but when someone else is found dead, she begins to suspect that the body in the hospital was just the first of many.

Just as Alex uncovers a heartbreaking link between the victims, she finds her own safety under threat. Is this a figure from her past hell-bent on revenge, or could the murderer be even nearer than she thinks?

Alex is running out of time. Can she catch the killer before they take another life, or will they get to her first?

A completely unputdownable detective thriller that will keep you up all night. Readers of Robert Bryndza, Karin Slaughter and Angela Marsons will love this.

My Thoughts

4 Tense Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Another fabulous police procedural series with a couple strong female detectives… this is the third book in the series and I would recommend starting with book one, just so you get all the wonderful character development…. in this series you get two detectives for the price of one… Alex King and Chloe Lane…. this book focused on Alex more than Chloe and I have to admit I find Chloe a little more relatable… really do like the friendship between these women, although it was put to the test in this book….

A burned up body found in an abandoned hospital… The discovery of several more bodies… a hate crime… and somebody is after Alex herself…. this book was tense from prologue to the end…. A couple reveals that definitely caught me offguard…. this book will absolutely appeal to all you crime thriller lovers, it was filled with a lot of twists and turns…

Strongly recommend to fans of police procedurals with strong female detectives…
