Wow Graham Smith sure did pack a lot into 99 pages… how he was able to craft this amazing plot and not lose anything in character development in such a short novella is beyond me…. major props to Mr. Smith I’ve read 400 page books where I never got a handle on the characters…. this book is part of a series that focuses on a major crime team…. Harry Evans was once in charge of the team but now is acting as a consultant, the new head of the team Campbell is a little more by the book…. Harry is a little more impulsive and sometimes crosses the line causing a little tension but eventually Campbell turns his head to it…. I liked the dynamics between these two men as well as the rest of the team….
This was a straight up police procedural… a Who done it? it kind of reminded me of a very good episode of Law and Order Major Case Squad…. and that is an absolute compliment that was my favorite series of the franchise…. so in this book I was playing detective right along with Harry and team… trying to figure out who stabbed Julie and why…. and once again I was stumped, but fortunately they were not….. perfect plausible ending that I definitely did not see coming….
Absolutely recommend to fans of crime fiction, police procedurals, and a good who done it…. excited to read the other book in the series I have sitting in my Kindle!
*** thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of this fabulous book ***
