The V Card

The V Card

The V Card by Lauren Blakely

🌟🌟🌟🌟 / 5 stars

When you think about how easy it is to lose keys, phones, sunglasses and your dignity on social media, you might figure it’d be a cinch for me to ditch my V Card.

You’d be wrong.

At 25, I run a successful business, live in a fantastic apartment, and have fabulous friends to go out with any night of the week. And yet I’m still a card-carrying member of a club I don’t want to belong to anymore. Good thing I know just the man for the deflowering job—my brother’s business partner and best friend.

Graham Campbell is charming, smart, and, I’m told, oh-so-skilled in the sack. As long as I keep my eyes on the prize, there’s no way this pluck-the-flower project could possibly complicate matters.

Work and pleasure. As the CEO of a fast-growing company, I’ve been enjoying both to the fullest. What do I do when the board throws me for an unexpected loop so I can keep my business in my hands? I enlist the help of my best friend’s little sister since she holds a big stake in the company. But then I learn there’s another big stake she wants.

The one between my legs.

I can do this. Seven nights to teach her everything I know in the bedroom. There’s no way I’ll fall for her, even though she’s earning top grades in every single sinfully sexy lesson. And turns out I’m learning something too. The trouble is I don’t have the answer key to what to do when I fall hard for her.

And that throws a whole new hitch in my plans.

I love Lauren Blakely so I was excited to receive this book from the author, however I am not familiar with Lili Valente so I had my fingers crossed that I wasn’t going to be disappointed.

Of course I wasn’t!!! 😂

Loved this story but I only gave it 4.5 stars as opposed to 5, my reasoning is that I have been listening to a lot of contemporary books recently and they do all tend to start blending together if you are not careful, so I’m sure that at some point I will re-listen to this one and 5 star it, but for now it has a stellar 4.5 🌟

Now you have to know that when you get yourself a Ms Blakely book, you’re going to have a good time, let me count the ways 😇

1. Her comedy timing is always perfect, I love the way her characters banter with each other.

2. Graham – This is a man that will have you turning into a puddle of goo, no kidding, HE DESIGNS LINGERIE PEOPLE!! He knows what looks good on what size women, and loves them all the same…..sigh…..

3. C.J – If ever there was a strong, independent woman, then C.J is your girl, she knows what she wants, and she’s not afraid to ask for it!…….Well, unless you are asking about her virginity!

4. Stephen King 😂

Ms. Blakely is the queen of what she does for a reason, she knows her market and damn does she deliver!

Narration: PERFECT, just perfectly perfect in every way!!!

Ok I may be exaggerating a slight bit, but Sebastian York and Andi Arndt are my 2 favourite narrators in the whole wide world so they gave the sexiness a whole new level 😇

When Sebastian York whispers in your ears to undress slowly and seductively, well, you just damn well do what that man says!!!

Unwind by Neal Shusterman

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 OMG Stars

Connor, Risa, and Lev are running for their lives.

The Second Civil War was fought over reproductive rights. The chilling resolution: Life is inviolable from the moment of conception until age thirteen. Between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, however, parents can have their child “unwound,” whereby all of the child’s organs are transplanted into different donors, so life doesn’t technically end. Connor is too difficult for his parents to control. Risa, a ward of the state, is not enough to be kept alive. And Lev is a tithe, a child conceived and raised to be unwound. Together, they may have a chance to escape and to survive.

Love this series, and the audio narration was fab from Luke Daniels, he managed to capture all of the characters brilliantly.

So this book is a scary look into our future (maybe) if we dont sort our sh*t out!!

Basically there was a civil war about abortion rights and pro life stuff, nobody could agree on anything, and it got kinda messy for a while.

Then someone came up with a brilliant plan and everyone seems to agree with it, thus ending the civil war and begining the age of Unwinding.

Now if i was to say to you go and unwind, you would perhaps grab a book and put your feet up…..not to these kids, this is what they see when they hear the words Unwind.

Basically from the age of 13 until you are classed as an adult at 18, your parents or legal guardians can have you Unwound, legally aborted!!!!

But wait there is more……

Oh yes my friend there is much….much more!

Don’t feel guilty about sending your child to be Unwound, because even though they will not be them anymore, each piece of them will be used in other people, 99.6% of your childs body parts will be re-used, just think, your little Timmy’s hands could be given to a concert pianist, and you could see him performing on a big stage one day!

And don’t worry about them being scared, the pepole in the Harvest Camps look after them really well, there will be a nurse with them every step of the way, because as we all know, by law they have to be awake throught the whole procedure!

Connor isn’t a bad kid, not really, but he has got into trouble more than a few times, and his parents don’t know what to do with him…… they sign the Unwind order……Connor doesn’t want to be Unwound

Risa is a Ward of the State, an orphan, she is taking up space in the state home, so they sign the order…….Risa doesn’t want to be Unwound

Lev……Well, Lev is a Tithe and he can’t wait to be Unwound!!! It is what he was born for, and has been told about it his whole life, ……….Lev is excited about being Unwound!

We havent’t even touched on other subjects like Storking….

Or even Clappers!

But i think you will have to read the book for that, as everything is not as it seems…………

Drop what you are doing and read this little cracker if a book NOW!!!!!

The Child Finder

The Child Finder

The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld

5 snowy stars for the Child Finder and the Snow Girl ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

Three years ago, Madison Culver disappeared when her family was choosing a Christmas tree in Oregon’s Skookum National Forest. She would be eight years old now—if she has survived. Desperate to find their beloved daughter, certain someone took her, the Culvers turn to Naomi, a private investigator with an uncanny talent for locating the lost and missing. Known to the police and a select group of parents as The Child Finder, Naomi is their last hope.

Naomi’s methodical search takes her deep into the icy, mysterious forest in the Pacific Northwest, and into her own fragmented past. She understands children like Madison because once upon a time, she was a lost girl too.

As Naomi relentlessly pursues and slowly uncovers the truth behind Madison’s disappearance, shards of a dark dream pierce the defenses that have protected her, reminding her of a terrible loss she feels but cannot remember. If she finds Madison, will Naomi ultimately unlock the secrets of her own life?

WOW WOW WOW!!! This book was simply STUNNING!!!

This book is definitely on my top Reads of 2017.

Rene Denfeld did not just tell you a story with this book she made you feel the story…. you felt Naomi‘s strength and inner struggles…. you felt Madison’s fortitude and innocence…. you felt the parents pain and hope…. you felt the cold and barren landscape….

Naomi had a troubled past and it is now her calling in life to find lost children…. Naomi and I probably have very little in common, but she was so relatable and so likable, I just felt as though I always knew where she was coming from (even though I’ve never been there myself)…. I want to give major props to the fact that she had a wonderful foster mother…. so often in books foster parents are villainized…. it was so nice and refreshing to see a foster parent portrayed in a positive light…. Jerome, Naomi‘s love interest (kind of) was also quite the amazing guy! I need to find me a Jerome (although I’d probably walk right by him)….

Madison theSnow Girl was quite a remarkable little girl…. I really loved that Rene Denfeld gave her a voice…. her point of view was so compelling and real….. truth be told sometimes it was tough to read….

The star on the top of the tree for me (because it is Christmas time) was those magnificent FairyTales…. it just added the perfect amount of charm to this book filled with such dark subject matter ….

I strongly recommend this book! And I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

🎧🎧🎧 The audiobook was narrated by Alyssa Bresnaham she gave the perfect voice to both Naomi and Madison… she also did a wonderful job with all the male voices… I will give her narration five stunning stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
